Ranking of face gels - the best face gels of 2024
Importance of choosing the right face gel
Choosing the right face gel is crucial for maintaining healthy skin, especially when it comes to facial care. A high-quality face gel significantly removes impurities such as dirt, pollutants, and makeup residue, which can accumulate on your skin over time. A good face gel helps preserve the skin's natural balance by efficiently cleansing the skin preventing dryness, excessive oiliness, and breakouts. Effective cleansing achieved through a suitable face gel ensures that your pores are unclogged and your skin can breathe, ultimately contributing to a clearer and more radiant complexion. Furthermore, the choice of face gel can influence your skin's hydration levels; thus, selecting a product that supports skin balance without stripping away essential moisture is indispensable. It's essential to opt for face gels that are free from alcohol and artificial substances, as these can lead to irritation and long-term damage. With the wide array of face gels available on the market, prioritising those that offer a harmonious blend of deep cleansing and nurturing components can significantly enhance your overall facial care routine.

Nutridome facial cleanser impressed our group of testers already from the first use 😍. It removes face impurities very effectively and at the same time has a soothing effect and can be used for all skin types, including allergic and acne-prone. The formula contains goat's milk extract, anti-inflammatory allantoin, as well as soothing panthenol and moisturizing niacinamide 😄. Thanks to this, Nutridome facial gel not only cleanses the face, but also regulates sebum secretion and supports keeping the face skin in good condition. Editorial Text:
CeraVe is a brand originating from the United States, enjoying worldwide popularity on the cosmetics market. The formulas of its products are created in cooperation with dermatologists to combine effectiveness and safety. CeraVe cleansing gel contains niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Despite the fact that the formula is not natural and the composition is long, it has a strong purifying effect 🧪. The manufacturer declares that the product is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, but the testers reported that despite this declaration, the cosmetic has a noticeable fragrance that not everyone likes 🤔. The purifying effect is so strong that there have been cases of severe drying-out of the skin and intensification of acne. CeraVe gel is a good cosmetic and, although expensive, of so intense effects that we can recommend it - yet rather only for body washing. It may be too strong for facial use 😉.
Benefits
CeraVe, purifying cleansing gel
- effective skin cleansing
- contains ceramides
- contains hyaluronic acid
Disadvantages
CeraVe, purifying cleansing gel
- may dry out skin
- possibly too intense for facial skin
- contains fragrance contrary to declaration
- high price

The Tołpa brand does not need to be introduced to anyone. It is a leading Polish manufacturer of cosmetics with original peat. How does Dermo Face Physio face gel compare in the ranking? It is good, but it had to settle for the last place on the podium 😉. Tołpa gel deserves praise for its composition, excluding one fragrance, while the rest of the formula is quite valuable and contains among others urea and hyaluronic acid 🌿. It is designed to retain skin moisture and prevent dry skin. Dermo Face Physio cleanses the skin well, although we should note that it does not deal well with make-up. It is too thick and it takes a while to fully clean and rinse. Using a micellar fluid to fully remove make-up may be necessary 😞. Some testers also reported a burning sensation on the face, especially with sensitive skin. Apart from these disadvantages and relatively high price, Tołpa gel deservedly takes a high rank.
Benefits
Tołpa, Dermo Face Physio, face gel
- good composition
- Contains urea and hyaluronic acid
- cleans skin well
Disadvantages
Tołpa, Dermo Face Physio, face gel
- small packaging volume
- a lot of preservatives
- too thick
- may cause burning

Effaclar face gel is one of the cosmetics available in the wide range of products by La Roche-Posay. Effaclar is both a gel and a line of products designed for acne-prone skin that cleanse and prevent formation of blemishes. The gel formula is alcohol free and hypoallergenic, so it should cause no allergies. Unfortunately, the formula has no natural extracts and oils and is based on synthetic ingredients 🧪, although absence of parabens or SLS is worth noting. The cosmetic effectively removes impurities and deals well with make-up. Some testers reported a strong feeling of tight and dry skin 😓. La Roche-Posay Effaclar face gel is quite ok, but its price is so high that it had to settle for a place at the end of the ranking 😉.

La Roche–Posay, Effaclar, face cleansing gel
- removes impurities well
- available in two volumes
Disadvantages
La Roche–Posay, Effaclar, face cleansing gel
- very high price
- dries out the skin

Editorial Text:
Ziaja is a brand that needs no introduction. This Polish manufacturer is famous for cheap and often pretty good cosmetics. Oczyszczanie - Liście Manuka are one of those less successful formulas. Let's start with the advantages – some of them is certainly no alcohol content, low price and availability in many stores and drugstores 🙂. The texture is quite thin, so you need to be careful to not to let it flown down from our hand. As for the effects, the gel cleanses the face and deals with make-up. On the other hand, it gives a strong feeling of tight and dried skin 😞. For oily skin, it strongly stimulates sebum production, which makes the face shine after a short while. Facial cleansing is effective, but the Ziaja, Oczyszczanie, Liście Manuka gel affects the complexion so strongly that you need to use a cream additionally 👎. We recommend to put on another gel with a more delicate composition 🤔.
Benefits
Ziaja, Oczyszczanie, Liście Manuka, face gel
- alcohol free
- low price
- availability
Disadvantages
Ziaja, Oczyszczanie, Liście Manuka, face gel
- excessively watery texture
- does not cope with oily skin
- strong feeling of tight skin
- chemical composition
- many fragrance substances
Top recommended face gels for 2024
Ziaja's Oczyszczanie — Liście Manuka face gel is one of the best face gels of 2024. It is known for effective cleansing with an alcohol-free formula. It efficiently removes impurities and makeup but may leave a tight sensation on the skin and stimulate sebum production for oily skin types. Despite these drawbacks, the gel's efficacy in providing a deep cleanse is undisputed. When looking for hydrating face gels, it's essential to consider alcohol-free formulations to improve your skin's overall health and appearance.
Tips for selecting the perfect face gel
When choosing face gels, it's crucial to consider your skin type and specific concerns. For sensitive or dry skin, alcohol-free products are essential to avoid irritation and dryness. Meanwhile, those with oily or acne-prone skin might benefit from gels containing natural astringents like witch hazel but should still avoid harsh artificial substances that can exacerbate skin issues. Additionally, regardless of your skin type, assessing whether your chosen gel requires extra moisturisation is wise. Some face gels, particularly those designed for oil control, can leave the skin feeling tight. A lightweight, hydrating moisturiser can help maintain the perfect balance, ensuring your skin stays healthy and radiant.
